Why Is Communication So Hard?

Business Consulting & Coaching

Communication is a skill we all need right?  You speak and people listen – that’s Communication right?

Not at all… Communication  is very much a two way street, you speak but there is no guarantee that what is said has been received and understood.  One of my favourite quotes is “The biggest problem in Communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”  We speak, people hear but did they get what we intended?  That is the gamble we take each time we communicate.

We are dealing with people who are different from us, who have different backgrounds, experiences, fears, worries, expectations and that is before we Communicate.  Brene Brown speaks about the idea  “Understanding ourselves is of critical importance.”  I could not agree more.

You need to first understand yourself, how you come across to others, what works for you, what doesn’t, what you need, what you want as a Communicator.  Before you can even begin to understand someone else.  Perhaps as a Communicator you need Results.  You are a Driven Communicator.   If you are dealing with a Patient more reserved Communicator who wants harmony then you are at complete odds before you even begin.

It is of critical importance that each and every one of you understands your needs as a Communicator so you can then understand that others may have different needs to you. Them and only then can you bridge the gap between the two of you and really communicate and connect.

Your business, your relationship rely on Communication, it is like the oxygen that keeps your connections alive.  Are you breathing life into your relationships or suffocating them?

Business loses up to 32% of profit due to Poor Communication – don’t be one of those statistics.

Learn what makes you tick, learn your Communication DNA and you too can have relationships personally and professionally that thrive.  You deserve it and so does your business.

Until next time, Care, Connect and be a Conscious Communicator.

Let’s change the world we live in one conversation at a time.
