How promoting a Competitor Can Elevate your Profile

Business Planning & Strategies
I’ve asked a few of my fellow business-women to help promote my business - Pagoni The Label. They say they couldn’t possibly because their mother/sister-in-law/girlfriend has a jewellery business and she couldn’t possibly talk about a competitor. It would take sales away from their business!

In my experience, this is not true!

Promoting a business with a similar product or service as your own is NOT going to take sales or business away from your business! In fact, I believe it will do the opposite. It will enhance YOUR profile because you are supporting a fellow business-woman to greater success! You are so confident in your product and the loyalty of your customers that you are completely at ease with giving a hand-up to other business-women.

I believe that supporting another woman to thrive and succeed will not lessen our own success, but rather show the world how much we value ourselves. Doesn’t it feel good to empower others? Don’t we all deserve success?

The thing is, we’re all in business to make money. No, no, don’t be ashamed of this fact! Shout it loud and proud! However, refusing to acknowledge that you have competitors is to your detriment.  You cannot bury your head in the sand on this one!  Think of all you could learn from each other!  Countless, invaluable lessons!

There’s plenty of business to go around. Besides, your business may not have that one product/service that a customer is looking for but your competitor may! After all, it’s all about helping our customers.  Your customer will appreciate you looking out for THEIR interests. They may purchase from your competitor once or twice but will continue to come back to you because they feel appreciated and valued (and because your business is better LOL).

Ultimately, building relationships with your customers as well as your competitors will pay dividends in the long run.

It’s actually a very clever sales strategy at no cost – Free exposure. More traffic. Increased sales.

Go on. Promote a competitor and elevate your profile and your business at the same time!
