I had a crazy idea after I heard Sheryl Sandberg talking about an initiative she created called #MentorHer. She said that post the #MeToo campaign, the number of men who were afraid to mentor women tripled.
I thought there has to be another way where we move towards inclusion vs. separation. I felt like a rinse and repeat of the 80’s. I turned on my creative mind and thought, I need to take radical action. So I did.
I reached out to 15 women who are experts in their field and asked them if they would be willing to give 1 hour of their time and create a masterclass that not only educates women but gives actionable steps on how they can Be Seen, Be Heard, Be Healthy and Be Rich.
You know the saying “knowledge is Power” when applied. I literally had two weeks to coordinate all the logistics, create a website, email sequence, secure page to host the masterclasses and interview the 15 women from 6 different countries to launch as an initiative for #IWD2020 on the 8th of March.
I learned a very valuable lesson in the last 2 weeks. Women are natural collaborators and action takers. We are INCREDIBLE when we come together. I learned one more lesson. When you align yourself with women who are at the top of their game, you will not get resistance, only support to see each other succeed.
That is empowering and is why this initiative is even more important – it’s the women who came together that gave from their heart into the hearts of women who will receive the knowledge and use it or pass it on.
