Welcome Leanne Elich – WNA Ambassador for New South Wales
WNA welcomes Leanne Elich as our Ambassador for New South Wales. Here we find out more about Leanne and her business.
Hi, I’m Leanne Elich, CEO of Leanne Elich Consulting (L.E.C), Business Psychologist and Sales Acceleration Specialist. The creator of the Business Mastermind Program and author of Solving the Sales Equation. I am fortunate to be one of Australasia’s most successful Technology Business Executives and leading experts in high-performance sales teams with over 25 years’ global experience. A graduate of the University of Sydney, Harvard Business School and Harvard Medical School, my expertise is bridging the gap between science and business using Neuroscience and Behavioural Science frameworks.
L.E.C. builds and delivers sales and leadership training programs to teach you the skills, strategies and tactics to occupy a unique position in the marketplace, influence your customers and win more sales.
We regularly contribute to both local and national media outlets including ABC radio and the Sydney Morning Herald. I am also an Honorary Clinical Fellow at the Queensland University of Technology, international Keynote speaker and Women in Leadership advisor.
What motivated you to start your business?
Having worked globally in the public, private and corporate sectors, I identified unique and unconventional business frameworks that I was compelled to get out into the world. I felt it was time that I used all my knowledge and experience to help transform businesses of all industries to accelerate growth, industry leadership and find their business ‘superpower’ using science.
The use of Psychology and Neuroscience in sales is a particular skill. It is fascinating and powerful to see in action and L.E.C. gives me the platform to instigate change and amplify the impact in the competitive business world.
What do you love most about owning your own business?
Meeting extraordinary business minds and working with such diverse expertise. I have a thirst for knowledge and owning your own business gives you the capacity and resources to learn from the best. The behavioural science application in business is a creative science that is often not used to its full potential. L.E.C. gives me the platform to use powerful techniques to help my clients outperform their competitors…ethically. Our tagline “Think. Outside. The. Box” is a value I believe in strongly. It gives you the opportunity to be challenged and challenge others, push boundaries and set up your sphere of colleagues for success.
What’s the best piece of business or career advice someone has given you?
There are always doors to opportunities around us. When the time is right, we:
1. open our eyes to find the door
2. are intrigued to push open the door
3. have the courage to step right through the door
In the midst of your busy life, how do you take care of yourself and maintain good mental health?
Owning your own business can be exhausting both physically and mentally and even though we are well aware of the need for work/life balance, sometimes there just isn’t the time.
However good physical and mental health will impact the growth of your business. For me, I do Reformer Pilates three times a week; it helps with my posture, my strength and my mind. I also do boxing which is an excellent outlet for stress and frustration, and I walk…A LOT. This is when I can think clearly and explore ideas to save the world!
How has networking benefited you and your business?
Networking is an excellent opportunity to exchange best practice knowledge, learn about the business techniques of your peers and stay abreast of the latest industry developments. A vast network of informed, interconnected contacts means broader access to new and valuable information. Networking also provides you with an opportunity to learn and avoid some of the common pitfalls others have experienced.
Networking, when done actively, can result in some fabulous opportunities that may not have come your way. You have a broad network of support partners and confidants at the ready to help you along your business journey. And not to mention, great friendships!
How do you persevere through tough times?
To be honest, I am incredibly resilient; however, when times are really tough, I use specific strategies to get myself back on track.
1. Focus on things that are within my control
2. Rely on my support network including friends and family
3. As difficult as it is, I will ask for help
4. Remain positive and look at the bright side
5. Acknowledge all I have achieved
6. Practice a “mind and body” relaxation technique
