3 Common Content Marketing Mistakes

Writing, Editing & Publishing

Are you sabotaging your business with these common content marketing mistakes?

Content Marketing Mistake #1: Trying to do it on your own.

You’re busy running a business, and are most likely an expert in your particular field.

However, you are probably not an expert in content marketing. Consequently, you will have to take time to learn – and performing even the simplest marketing tasks will take you a lot longer than a professional who does it every day.

In addition, you could be missing vital steps or considerations – such as optimising web content for the search engines.

Which Brings Me To Mistake #2: Not realising the importance of search engine optimization (SEO).

If you want your website content to appear on the first page of Google, you’ll need a good understanding of SEO. (If that’s you, you will find some tips and helpful information on SEO here).

Alternatively, you could consider hiring an SEO agency or copywriter – however, once again it’s important to have at least a basic knowledge so that you can be sure you aren’t being ripped off.

Content Marketing Mistake #3: Using poor quality content.

Give consumers the right impression with professional content – great text, graphics, photos, etc.

The irony is, while something may seem easy to read – this is usually the hardest content to write!

Keeping Content Marketing Affordable

If the budget doesn’t stretch to a copywriter or editor, take advantage of your computer’s spelling and grammar check.

Make sure any images you use are of good quality – try https://unsplash.com/ or https://pixabay.com/ for free stock images, if your own photographic skills aren’t up to scratch (and you don’t have a photographer or graphic designer in the family!).

Or, consider a collaboration with another business which can assist with the expertise you need.

Have you seen yourself in any of these common content marketing mistakes?
